Deconstruction Painting

IMG_0580IMG_0579[1]The bold, dark frame of the trees in the landscape remind me of the dark aubergine color of Delta dirt as tractors disk the soil in March fields to get ready for planting time.  Nowhere in the world is there soil so rich or so ready to take back the land from our attempts at civilization. The striking shapes of the dark limbs and branches against the red morning sky bring to mind the vasculature of the body as well as the fanning shapes of tributaries of great rivers seen from space.  To begin this painting I painted the large bodies of color behind these large bold lines creating a map that would balance the very dark trees against the muted or vibrant background colors in the negative spaces.painting bobbie Nell Sunrise
